Our school social work staff forge relationships with students and parents to provide guidance as listeners, advisers and advocates. Our staff assists our Wyandotte community, children, families and teens, helping people solve problems.

Rachel Bak, LMSW
Education:
- Michigan State University, Bachelor in Psychology
- University of Michigan, Master in Social Work
Ms. Bak began her career at The Guidance Center in the School Based Department providing services for youth including: individual/group counseling, psycho-educational groups and case management. She also has experience providing services for youth in substance abuse and inpatient hospital settings. Ms. Bak received her Masters of Social Work from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, in 2010. She then began working for Wyandotte Public Schools in 2010 as a School Social Worker for Madison Center and Jo Brighton Skills Center. Currently, she is the School Social Worker for Wilson Middle School and Jefferson Elementary. She loves Michigan State University and her two golden retrievers, Gracie and Penny Lane.

Jennifer Ballard, LMSW
Education:
- Western Michigan University, Bachelor Degree in Social Work and Sociology
- University of Michigan, Master Degree in Social Work
Mrs. Ballard has extensive clinical and substance abuse treatment, quality assurance as well as school social work experience within Wyandotte Public Schools. Mrs. Ballard has worked at The Information Center, Oakwood Hospital Detox Unit and Apex Behavioral Health. She has worked with preschool through junior high students in Wyandotte since 1998. Mrs. Ballard has been married for 19 years and has 2 teenage daughters. She loves running, reading and family time. Mrs. Ballard services Washington Elementary, Wilson Middle School and the Early Childhood programs

Melissa Mohlman, LMSW
Education:
- University of Michigan, Bachelor in Social Work
- University of Michigan, Master in Social Work
Mrs. Mohlman worked as a children's therapist at the Guidance Center and in Galesburg-Augusta schools prior to beginning her employment in Wyandotte Public Schools in 1996. Mrs. Mohlman has worked with children ages birth through teens and has experience with linking families with needed resources, helping students with various issues that include anxiety, depression and anger management. Melissa has been married for 18 years and has 2 active pre-teen boys. Melissa enjoys running, reading and family time.

Maria Sutka, LMSW
Education:
- Michigan State University, Bachelor Degree in Psychology and Social Work
- University of Michigan, Master Degree in Social Work
Mrs. Sutka has experience as a children's therapist at The Guidance Center and New Center Community Mental Health. She has been employed since 1994 as a school social worker beginning her career in Detroit Public Schools and has been in Wyandotte since 1996. Mrs. Sutka has worked with students from birth through high school. She has been a parent and family facilitator and has extensive experience assisting students with anxiety, peer relationships and social skills training. Mrs. Sutka has been married for 20 years, has 2 teenage daughters, 1 crazy dog and enjoys reading and travel.  Mrs. Sutka services Washington Elementary School and Roosevelt High School.
